GOLDEN CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Highway Patrol said late Thursday night that the body found Thursday afternoon near Golden City is that of missing 12-year-old Adriaunna Horton.
Several agencies, including the FBI, Highway Patrol, the Barton County Sheriff’s Department and volunteers found a body just before 2 p.m. Wednesday in rural Dade County.
The body was positively identified to Adriaunna, who was first reported missing late Monday afternoon near Golden City.
Authorities charged Bobby D. Bourne Jr, 34, of Lockwood, Mo., with kidnapping the girl. He remains in the Barton County jail on $1 million bond.
The girl's father, Golden City resident James Horton, said Bourne had once worked for him and that their children played together.
Authorities have called a 1:30 p.m. news briefing in Lamar, Mo. to update the case.
