INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - An Independence woman tells police someone hung her Jack Russell terrier. Police received the unusual report Saturday from Brenda Looney, who lives in the 1000 block of North Aztec Court.
Looney has now buried her one year old dog named Chico in the back yard. But she still wants police to figure out who did this to her best friend.
“Chico was my strength, when I was too tired to get out of bed he would come wake me up and tell me he wanted to play. He was loveable; you could not help but love Chico.”

She says she thinks the attack was personal and she’s thinks it could have been a neighbor, but police can’t confirm that.
A neighbor reportedly saw the dog hanging from a tree in the yard, and notified the owner. Police say no one has been arrested and there have been no other recent reports of cruelty to animals.
