KANSAS CITY, Missouri - One of Kansas City’s iconic symbols is going through a major renovation.
The 165 foot Unity Water Tower off 350 Highway and Colbern Road will undergo a transformation.
An anonymous donor gave Unity a 3-million dollar donation for the project.
Contractors will update the tower’s elevator and reopen an observation deck near its peak for the public.
Lynne Brown, the Vice President of Silent Unity stopped by NBC Action News Weekend Today to discuss the project.
"What that means for the community is they will be able to go to the observation deck if they chose. We will be taking people to the top of the tower and it is an absolutely splendid view of Kansas City” said Brown.
Renovations will be completed in the spring of 2013.
The tower provides water to the entire Unity World Headquarters at the Unity Village Campus.
