LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - A 13-year-old Missouri boy has died while swimming with his family at a Disney resort in Florida.
Authorities in Orange County say Anthony Johnson had been swimming Sunday evening at Disney's Pop Century Resort when his family lost sight of him.
A cousin spotted him at the bottom of the pool after several minutes. KOLR reports Anthony and his family were visiting from Fordland, Mo.
Deputies report the boy's father performed CPR until paramedics arrived. He later died at an Orlando-area hospital.
"We are saddened by Anthony Johnson's passing and our hearts go out to his family, friends and loved ones," Disney said in a statement. "We have reached out to his family to offer care and assistance during this difficult time."
William Cybulski, a firefighter from Buffalo, New York, told WKMG he helped save Anthony.
"I never want to see something like that especially on vacation, much less to a child," he told the Orlando television station .
Cybulski’s girlfriend, Crystal Loschiavo, said she helped keep other children, including Anthony’s brother, away from him.
"The little boy was really upset that that was his brother,” Loschiavo told WKMG . “He kept saying 'this is my only brother, this is my only brother I don't want anything to happen to him.’”
