JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -  The Missouri Supreme Court has rejected the appeals of two death row inmates who had claimed their attorneys provided ineffective aid during their murder trials.

The court on Tuesday upheld the convictions and death sentences for Carman Deck and Scott McLaughlin.

Deck had been convicted of the fatal shootings of James and Zelma Long during a robbery of their home near De Soto in 1996.

McLaughlin had been convicted of raping and fatally stabbing his former girlfriend, Beverly Guenther, in St. Louis County in 2003.

The Supreme Court was unanimous in ruling against both men.
