KANSAS CITY, Missouri - A northwest Missouri man sentenced to life in prison for the 1990 killing of his Chillicothe-area neighbor is getting another day in court.
Mark Woodworth was convicted in 1995 of killing Cathy Robertson as a 16-year-old. That verdict was overturned on appeal but Woodworth was again convicted four years later.
Defense attorney Bob Ramsey is arguing for a new trial Thursday before the Missouri Court of Appeals. Ramsey cites new evidence that includes previously undisclosed letters between a Livingston County judge and ex-county prosecutor.
A 2009 Associated Press investigation found that investigators discounted some evidence pointing to other suspects. The AP also found letters between the former prosecutor and judge in which Robertson's husband, who survived the shooting, sought charges against another suspect.
