SEDALIA, Missouri - (AP) -- A central Missouri woman paralyzed after being hit by a drunk driver has been crowned Ms. Wheelchair USA.

Phaedra Marriott-Olsen, of Tipton, was crowned at the Ms. Wheelchair USA event held in Green, Ohio, in late June.

Olsen, who was paralyzed after being hit by a drunk driver in 1996, said she will travel the country attending events to promote individuals with disabilities.

She told The Sedalia Democrat that the best part of the experience was the opportunity to meet the other women and share stories and tips for living in a wheelchair.
