SEDALIA, Mo. - Pettis County Sheriffs deputies dealt with a bomb scare Wednesday after finding an improvised explosive device in a Sedalia trailer park.
Deputies were in the Lone Pine Trailer park east of Sedalia at about 1 p.m. serving warrants when they spotted a handgun in a car owned by a felon.
After taking the man into custody, deputies attempted to retrieve the gun, but spotted what appeared to be an IED in the car.
The Missouri Highway Patrol Bomb Unit’s bomb robot was dispatched to the scene and eventually detonated the device, which was found to contain explosives.
Nearby residents in the trailer park were forced to evacuate until the device was removed and disarmed.
