Weighted body found in Truman Lake, police ask for public's help

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police are looking for answers after a weighted-down body floated to the surface at Truman Lake.

A boater found the body Sunday near the shore in Warsaw, Mo., according to the Benton County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities said that they are not currently looking for any missing persons in Benton County, and are currently looking at missing persons state-wide and nationally.

Police describe the victim as a white female between 13 and 20 years old and approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall.

Authorities said the body could have been in the lake from a few days to up to six months.
