Snow didn’t stop KC couple from getting married at Busch Stadium

ST. LOUIS - Folklore says rain on your wedding day is good luck. But what about snow?

Kurt Benhoff and Christina Ferrell, of Kansas City, had always planned to get married at Busch Stadium.

The life-long Cardinals fans met in high school and started dating in college at Southern Illinois University. They became engaged after graduation.

When they arrived at the stadium last Saturday, a few snow flurries were falling. But that didn't dampen their spirits.

After a while, Busch Stadium event coordinator Kristen Schmalz delivered more news - it was a blizzard out there. She offered to move the ceremony indoors but the couple would have none of it.

Come snow or high water, they were going to say "I do" at home plate. The unusual and happy occasion was taped by videographer Jimmy Wildeman and shared at the reception Saturday night.

Even though Kurt and Christina Benhoff now live across the state in Kansas City, they say they will always be Cardinals fans.
