KIMBERLING CITY, Mo. - A Texas man drowned Tuesday at a southern Missouri lake.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Water Patrol Division says 23-year-old Gbenga Y. Afolabi jumped from a boat around 1 p.m. on Table Rock Lake, just northeast of the state park marina.
Afolabi, from Houston, immediately started having problems when he jumped in, according to a Water Patrol incident report.
The boat’s driver, a 54-year-old Oklahoma man, threw him a flotation device, but he lost his grip on it and went under, the report said.
Afolabi’s body was pulled from the lake nearly two hours later.
