PUERTO ASIS, Colombia - Three teenagers killed in Puerto Asis in the past 10 days are named on a list posted on Facebook, and it has authorities concerned, to say the least.
According to an article from CNN.com , the so-called “kill list” contains 69 names, including those of two people killed on August 15, just two days before the list was posted online.
A message posted with the first part of the list said that the named parties had three days to leave town. At first, police thought it was simply a joke. But a second set of names appeared online, and on August 20 third person was killed. A fourth would-be victim escaped from his attackers and was wounded.
Authorities have since posted a reward in the amount of 5 million pesos (appx. $2,750) for any information about the kill list, and the related murders. They have also sent internet experts from Bogota to investigate the case.
Right now it’s unknown who posted the list, or why the names it contains were selected specifically.
Authorities say gang violence is nothing new in Puerto Asis, but the use of social media to warn the victims, not to mention the mysterious purpose of the list itself, make this case unique in that area.
