KANSAS CITY, Mo. - NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman will coach a team of Kansas City-area basketball players this weekend as a national street ball tour takes on local athletes.
The Ball Up Search for the Next tour opens its 2013 season Saturday night at the Independence Events Center.
Rodman, who won five NBA titles with the Pistons and Bulls in his 14-year career, will serve as the game’s guest coach for the local Kansas City players.
The local team will be picked at a tryout Saturday morning at Weltner Park, 78th and State Line, in Prairie Village, Kan. Two players from the region will be selected as MVPs of the game and will have the opportunity to win a Ball Up professional contract.
Event organizers promise a family-friendly event, with special guest appearances, contests, family entertainment and more.
The game will also be filmed and featured as part of a television series on FOX Sports 1 this fall.
