Cynthia Newsome and Brett Anthony will be our team captains. The event will take place on Sunday, July 8, in the Power and Light District.

We hope to get as many viewers on our team as possible to support this great cause during All-Star weekend.

The 5K, an officially timed event, will start at 7:30 a.m. The family-friendly 1-mile Fun Run will begin at 8 a.m. All registered finishers will receive a commemorative All-star medal and T-shirt.

The All-Star themed course will take participants through downtown Kansas City, featuring appearances by MLB legends, mascots and celebrity guests.

MLB will donate 100 percent of net proceeds from the event to three charities supporting cancer research and awareness – the Prostate Cancer Foundation, Stand Up to Cancer and the Greater Kansas City Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

If you register online by June 20 and enter the team code KSHB, you’ll receive a $5 registration discount. The 5K price is $30 (adult) and $25 (children 12 and under). The Fun Run rates are $25 (adult) and $20 (children 12 and under). Registration and event information is at AllStarGame.com/5K.
