KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Pitchers and catchers report to Royals Spring Training in less than a month, and on Tuesday, the team announced its 2013 promotions and special events.
The team is bringing back fan favorites like Retro Powder Blue Jersey night and Salute to the Negro Leagues.
The Royals will celebrate Retro Night on Saturday, June 8 against the Houston Astros. The first 10,000 fans will receive a Retro Powder Blue Jersey that night.
The Royals pay tribute to Kansas City’s baseball past on Salute to the Negro Leagues. They will wear Kansas City Monarchs uniforms on Saturday, Aug. 24 vs. the Washington Nationals. The first 10,000 fans to that game will receive a Monarchs t-shirt.
Fans will also be able to celebrate Billy Butler’s 2012 Silver Slugger Award with Billy Buttler Silver Slugger Bobblehead night on Saturday, May 4 for the first 10,000 fans.
In addition to giveaways, fan favorite nights are back this year. Value Mondays, T-Shirt Tuesdays, Student Nights (Wednesdays), Frenchy Quarter (Thursdays), Buck Nights (Fridays) and Family FunDay Sundays all return this season. Summer fireworks will continue for select Friday night home games.
Kansas City’s comedic celebrities – Paul Rudd, Rob Riggle and Jason Sudeikis – host the 3rd Annual Big Slick Celebrity Classic at The Little K on Friday, July 19 before the game against the Detroit Tigers.
Season tickets are on sale and single game tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16. Fans can find information about all of the team’s promotions and specials by visiting www.royals.com/promotions.
