KANSAS CITY, Mo - Kansas City Royals outfielder Alex Gordon and catcher Salvador Perez have been selected to play in the 79th MLB All-Star Game in New York City.
The last time two Royals appeared in the Midsummer classic was 10 years ago.
So far this year, Gordon is batting .290 with eight home runs and 46 RBIs and Perez is hitting .302 four home runs and 36 RBIs.
Perez is the first Royals catcher to be named an All-Star since 1980 when Darrell Porter played in the game.
Both Perez and Gordon were named to the AL All-Star team via the player vote.
The All-Star Game will be played at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, on Tuesday, July 16.
