Ned Yost believes Royals can win a World Series

SURPRISE, Ariz. - It’s been almost 30 years since the Kansas City Royals have won a World Series pennant. If you believe Ned Yost, that streak could come to an end – and soon.
Yost told MLB.com on Tuesday that he believes the current Royals’ roster will lead them to a World Series win.
"I think with this group we're definitely going to win a world championship somewhere down the road, the next couple of years,” Yost told MLB.com. “That's just the way I feel. You probably ask every manager, they'd say that same thing. But this time, I believe it."
Yost credited the focus on pitching in the off season for his conviction that the team will win.
"We've got pitching, not only in the starting department, but in the bullpen to finish games out. We've got a tremendously athletic defense. We've got speed. We've got young hitters that are growing and becoming better and better every day,” he said.
It was 1985 when the Royals last saw the postseason – a season when they won the pennant. The team has not had a winning season since 2003.
