It’s March again and so the madness has officially begun.
Kansas City is hosting the 2013 Phillips Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship, which kicks off Wednesday night, but there’s no need to wait anxiously until the games begin to get your basketball fix.
There are plenty of events taking place throughout the metro to keep you pumped and maybe even ready to take on the Big 12 Player of the Year, Marcus Smart.
OK, maybe not. But surely, you will have a great time pep-rallying or competing to win $1000 worth of gas in Kansas City’s Big 12 5K Fun Run.

Big 12 GameDay Street Festival
-Full size basketball court that includes the following programming:
-Hot Shot Challenge - Half court with shots from all over
-Three Point Challenge - How many 3's can you make in 30 seconds?
-Free Throw Challenge - How many free throws can you make?
-Big 12 Trivia Component - Interactive Trivia Component
-Golf Simulator - Compete for closest to the pin and longest drive
-Pop-A-Shot Challenge - Compete against a friend in a quick shooting contest
-Speed Pitch Interactive - Test your arm strength at throwing a baseball
-Racing Simulator Game

The College Basketball Experience at Sprint Center
Check out this interactive venue, where you can soak up what it’s like during an actual game with interactive exhibits like “Beat the Clock;” where visitors can attempt to mirror historic moments by attempting game-winning shots. Interactive shooting drills, a free-play basketball court and an ESPNU desk, that gives visitors a chance to narrate highlights like their favorite sports announcers, all make for a unique college hoops experience you won’t want to miss.

Kansas City’s Inaugural Big 12 5K Fun Run & Family Stroll
Why not kick off Big 12 Championship day with a chance to win $1000 in gas from Phillips 66, and be recognized at the Big 12 Basketball Championship final?
On Saturday, March 16 at 9 a.m., the 5k Fun Run will begin. The overall male and female winners of the race will receive the free gas prize and be featured at the Big 12 final. For those looking for a pleasant, but exciting, stroll across downtown KC, this is still the event for you. This run is family-friendly, so feel free to bring strollers.
Also, don’t forget to register by March 14 to be entered to for a chance to win tickets to the Big 12 Basketball Championship final. The first 100 registered will receive a unique stocking cap.
