The 2013 Phillips 66 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship begins Wednesday in Kansas City, Mo., and several of the conference's players will be making a trip home of sorts.

Below is a look at Big 12 men's basketball players who call Kansas or Missouri home. We'll begin with Kansas and Kansas State, the only teams to have more than one player from either state.

Players from the Kansas City area are listed before those from outside the metro.

KANSAS

24 Travis Releford G SR Kansas City, Mo. (Bishop Miege HS)

Releford is averaging 11.9 points a game in 33.3 minutes, good enough for Honorable Mention All-Big 12 in 2012-13.

He averaged 24.1 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in his senior season at Bishop Miege and was a two-time high school All-American.

10 Evan Manning G FR Lawrence, Kan. (Free State HS/New Hampton Prep)

The son of former KU and NBA great Danny Manning, he has appeared in 11 games as a freshman, averaging 3 minutes per game.

11 Tyler Self G FR Lawrence, Kan. (Free State HS)

Head coach Bill Self’s son, an invited walk-on, has played in nine games as a freshman.

He averaged 3.9 points and 1.3 rebounds per game as a senior at Lawrence Free State.

34 Perry Ellis F FR Wichita, Kan. (Wichita Heights HS)

Ellis has played in every game this season, scoring a career-high 15 points in the opener against SE Missouri State.

He led  Wichita Heights to four straight state titles and was a four-time Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year. Ellis averaged 25.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game as a senior.

23 Ben McLemore G FR St. Louis, Mo (Christian Life Center [Texas])

He’s played in every game this season, scoring double digits in all but four, including two 30 point games. McLemore is averaging 16.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.

When his St. Louis high school closed during his senior season, he transferred to Christian Life Center. In six games, he averaged 16 points and seven rebounds. He had averaged 28.3 points, 12.7 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game in St. Louis.

KANSAS STATE

55 Will Spradling G JR Overland Park, Kan. (Shawnee Mission South)

The junior guard, who has played in all three seasons in Manhattan, is shooting a career-high 40 percent from the floor in 2012-13.

Spradling was a four-year starter at Shawnee Mission South High School, where he finished as the school’s second-leading all-time scorer.

40 Shawn Meyer G SO Kansas City, Mo. (Blue Springs South)

Meyer has seen limited playing time in his two years at Kansas State. He’s only appeared in nine games in 2012-13, averaging just a minute of action per game.

He averaged 16 points, eight rebounds and two assists per game during his career at Blue Springs South.

11 Nino Williams F SO St. Louis, Mo. (Leavenworth [Kan.])

Used sparingly in his first two years in Manhattan, Williams has played in all but one game in 2012-13, putting up 4.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in 13.5 minutes a contest.

He averaged 20 points and 9.5 rebounds as a senior in 2009-10 and was named Mr. Kansas Basketball by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association.

33 Brian Rohleder G SO Wichita, Kan. (Bishop Carroll)

After appearing in eight games as a freshman in 2011-12, Rohleder has not seen any game time this year.

He averaged 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and 1.5 steals per game as a senior at Bishop Carroll High School.

24 Ryan Schultz F JR Wichita, Kan. (Maize HS/Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College)

Schultz has seen his first playing time as a Wildcat in 2012-13, averaging 2.2 minutes a game in 11 appearances.

He averaged 13.5 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2 assists as a senior at Maize High School.

50 D.J. Johnson F FR St. Louis, Mo. (Parkway North)

Has played in all but four games in his freshman season, averaging 2.2 points and 9.3 minutes a game. Scored a career-high 7 points in a Nov. 23 loss against No. 4 Michigan.

TCU

2 Connell Crossland F SR St. Louis, Mo. (Hazelwood Central HS/John A. Logan College)

Crossland has played in every game this year for the Horned Frogs, with an average of 6.1 points a game.

He averaged 14.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1.3 steals per game

Iowa State

22 Anthony Booker F Sr. St. Louis, Mo. (McCluer North/Southern Illinois)

Booker is averaging 3.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 12.2 minutes a game in 2012-13 and has played in all but four games.

He averaged 12.9 points and 9.0 rebounds as a senior. at McCluer North.

TEXAS TECH

10 Daylen Robinson G JR Kansas City, Mo. (Northeast/Moberley Area C.C.)

Robinson is in his first year at Texas Tech. The junior helped lead Moberly Area Community College to a 21-7 record last year. In two years at Moberly, he moved his way up to fifth in school history in assists.

Robinson averaged 32 points, five assists and four steals a game at Kansas City Northeast High School, including 57 in his final high school game.
