MANHATTAN, Kan. - K-State has hired a new mens head basketball coach.
The school announced in a press conference that they have hired Bruce Weber, who previously coached Illinois.
Weber was fired from Illinois on March 9.
He replaces Frank Martin, who left the school to become the head coach at South Carolina.
Weber had a 210-101 record at Illinois but his teams were just 55-66 in the Big Ten over the last six seasons. His tenure at Illinois included a run to the NCAA championship game in 2005, which Illinois lost.
According to the Associated Press, Weber's deal with K-State is for five years and $8.5 million.
