LAWRENCE, Kan. - Nick Harwell is bringing his considerable talents and some off-the-field baggage to Kansas. Head coach Charlie Weis announced the transfer of the former Miami (Ohio) receiver.
Harwell was an extremely productive player for the RedHawks for three seasons. The 6'1", 193-pound receiver was the NCAA's second-leading receiver in 2011 with 129.6 yards per game. He had 97 catches for 1,425 yards that season. Harwell missed three games last year due to injury. He still finished with 68 receptions for 870 yards and eight touchdowns in nine games.
The senior was suspended from the Miami (Ohio) football program this spring after an arrest in March.
