LAWRENCE, Kansas - University of Kansas head coach Bill Self announced Monday he has suspended guard Tyshawn Taylor indefinitely for an unspecified violation of team rules.
"Although we are disappointed in Tyshawn," Self said in a statement on the university's website , "he will remain a member of our team and practice with our team until he is reinstated for competition."
Taylor, a junior guard, has started in 26 of KU’s 27 games this year and leads the team with 4.7 assists per game, good enough for third in the Big 12.
From Hoboken, New Jersey, Taylor was the team’s second-leading returning scorer this season.
About an hour after Self's announcement, KU women's coach Bonnie Henrickson announced the indefinite suspension of senior Marisha Brown , a Center High School (KCMO) graduate.
Taylor is the second Jayhawk to be suspended from the men's team this season. In January, backup guard Mario Little was reinstated after serving a six-game suspension for an altercation involving his girlfriend that ended in his arrest .
