LAWRENCE, Kansas - Turner Gill's debut could not have gone worse at Kansas. His team struggled mightily on offense and special teams. The result was a shocking 6-3 loss to North Dakota State.

The Bison are in the Football Championship Series (formerly I-AA). They repeatedly found ways to keep the Jayhawks out of the endzone. Kansas started the game with Kale Pick at quarterback. He completed 13-of-22 passes for 138 yards and an interception. With the offense sputtering, Gill pulled Pick in favor of Jordan Webb. He did not fare much better. Webb completed 6-of-11 throws for 59 yards. He did not throw a touchdown or interception. The Kansas offense turned the ball over three times.

One of those turnovers came on special teams. North Dakota State blocked a Kansas punt. It was long day for the KU special teams. Jacob Branstetter only hit 1-of-3 field goals. He missed a potential game-tying field goal in the final minutes.

Defensively, Kansas held North Dakota State to 168 yards of total offense. Still, the Bison were able to notch two field goals thanks to Ryan Jastram.

North Dakota State knocked off a Big 12 team for the first time in school history.
