KANSAS CITY, Mo - The Kansas City Fire Department has released audio of the 911 call made by Jovan Belcher’s mother after the Chiefs linebacker shot his live-in girlfriend.
“The baby is crying,” Cheryl Shepherd can be heard saying. “Please get an ambulance here.”
After shooting Kasandra Perkins multiple times Saturday morning, Belcher drove to Arrowhead Stadium, where he took his own life in front of Chiefs General Manager Scott Pioli, Head Coach Romeo Crennel and Defensive Coordinator Gary Gibbs.
“He left,” Shepherd tells the 911 dispatcher. “Please just get ambulance here please.”
Belcher and Perkins had a 3-month-old daughter together. The girl is now staying with Belcher’s mother.
