KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Chiefs parted ways with 19 players and placed two more on injured reserve to reach their 53-man roster limit.
There were no huge surprises. The most experienced player released was defensive lineman Amon Gordon. He disappointed in training camp. The team also parted ways with Donald Washington. The safety was entering his fourth season with the club.
The Chiefs waived two of this year's draft picks. Receiver Junior Hemingway and defensive lineman Jerome Long were given their pink slips. Another draft pick, De'Quan Menzie, was placed on the injured reserve. Rookie free agent quarterback Alex Tanney was also placed on I.R.
NFL teams are allowed to start building a practice squad of eight players at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
