KANSAS CITY, Missouri - The Chiefs are huddling together to help tornado victims in Missouri and Kansas.

The football team will contribute $35,000 to disaster-relief efforts in Joplin, Missouri and Reading, Kansas.

The Chiefs are also teaming up with the Salvation Army. They are holding a bottled-water drive at Arrowhead Stadium to help the tornado victims. The drive will be located in Lot C on the east side of Arrowhead on Tuesday from 12 p.m. - 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.

The bottled-water donations will be sent to the Salvation Army's four mobile feeding kitchens stationed in Joplin. Chiefs executives, Cheerleaders, Red Coaters and Ambassadors will be collecting donations on both days.

Cash and check donations will also be available in Lot C during the drives on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Chiefs are teaming up with Heart-to-Heart International for all monetary donations. Checks should be made payable to Heart-to-Heart International.

The donated funds will be divided between the recovery efforts in Joplin and Reading. State emergency management officials say bottled water and monetary donations are the two biggest needs.

“The Chiefs Kingdom has been greatly affected by the tornadoes in Joplin and Reading,” Chiefs president Mark Donovan said. “Our hearts and prayers go out to the people affected by these disasters. We were informed that bottled water is the most pressing need at this point. Our hope is that our efforts will assist in meeting the immediate needs of those impacted. Our entire organization stands ready to help in the days and months ahead.”
