KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The future of the Kansas City Chiefs is in the hands of owner Clark Hunt, who sources say is working to get former Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid to take over the program as head coach.

It's a good move, according to the Save Our Chiefs group, which spent most of the losing season begging Hunt for a change.

“Right now, Coach Reid is one of the best coaching options on the market, and what we need.  We have a roster that has some talent, and will be drafting, hopefully a quarterback this year, and you really could not ask for a better teacher,” explained Marty McDonald, co-founder of Save Our Chiefs.

Season ticket holder Gary Friedman disagrees.

Friedman said coming into a sinking ship is not a great decision for Reid. Instead, Friedman thinks it's time for Reid and his family to take a break from the game.

“I'm concerned. He's had this long stay at the Eagles, with no time off at all. He also had the passing of his son a few months ago, too,” Friedman said.

Other fans said that considering the Chiefs' performance this season, a coach with a winning record could be the best hire the program has made in the past decade.

“If you look at the time frame of 1999 to 2012, Andy Reid won 130 games with the Eagles. He had nine playoff appearances, and won 10 playoff games," McDonald said. "Conversely, the Chiefs won only 98 games during that same span, and only made the playoffs three times, never winning a single game, and we've had five coaches between 1999 and 2012.”

No matter who the next coach is, all fans agree they hope he brings in his own coaching staff, saying the program could benefit from changes all around.
