OLATHE, Kansas - Three games remain this season. Chiefs fans are hoping those games bring three wins.

They are eager to see what the team can do without Todd Haley.

Carol Lehman said Monday, “I think that he just didn't have the team totally behind him. I don't think that he was a good leader."

The life-long fan and Red Coater told NBC Action News she was sad to see Haley go but was excited for the opportunity of success.

She wasn’t alone.

That sentiment was shared by about 30 others Monday night at Chiefs Kingdom radio show in Olathe. Fans gathered and listened wide-eyed as sportscasters and former players analyzed the Chiefs’ quick decision to remove Haley .

Long-time fan Don Leven said, “It's a game. We've tried hard. He coached hard. We just didn't win."

Wins mean everything in the NFL. However, according to former Chiefs Wide Receiver Eddie Kennison, that mentality isn’t any different from any other business.

Kennison explained, “When you don't produce for the company that you're looking for so the big boss tries to find someone who can fill those shoes to make the company or organization a success.”

He continued, “In this business, we just call it 'rented space' and Todd was just renting space for a little while."

That rented space, he said, can be leased to someone else instantly. Kennison experienced that with the Denver Broncos. However, fear of unemployment should never lead to fear on the field.

Kennison said, “I respect Todd for that, you know, not being the salmon that swims with everybody else.”

Going against the grain may have cost Haley his job but Chiefs Nation isn't wasting its time on speculation because change imminent.

Lehman added, “We don't know what's going to happen. We don't know who's going to end up as our new head coach."

Those questions remain with three games left to play this season and a promise of a fresh start in 2012.
