KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Chiefs have started a fund for the daughter of linebacker Jovan Belcher and his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins.
Three-month-old Zoey lost her parents Saturday when Belcher fatally shot 22-year-old Perkins in their home before taking his own life outside the team’s practice facility in front of coaches and staff.
The trust was established though contributions from players, coaches, staff and the Hunt family, according to a news release from the Chiefs.
"As we continue to struggle with the emotional pain from the tragedy, the Chiefs family is focused on helping 3-month-old Zoey Michelle Belcher as she faces the challenge of growing up without the support of her parents,” Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said in the news release.
