KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Neighbors of Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher and his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins, are shocked after Saturday's news that Belcher killed Perkins then turned the gun on himself.

The couple moved into the home six months ago, around the time of the training camp and another season for the Kansas City Chiefs, according to neighbors.

The couple welcomed a baby in September, and Belcher’s mother recently moved into the home.

Neighbors said they're shocked by the murder-suicide. They said the couple always seemed to be in love and never fought in public.

“This is somebody who was the exact same age as me – who was doing well,” Neighbor Dominic Johnson said. “(He) seemed to have everything, and it goes to show you that money is not going to bring you happiness. You have to make sure you can have (happiness) from within.”

Johnson said everything that happened Saturday morning has cut to his core. He has concern for a neighbor – and a father – who seemed to have everything.
