KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kasandra Perkins, who was allegedly killed by Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher before he killed himself, was related to another member of the Chiefs family.
The 22-year-old and Whitney Charles, Jamaal Charles' wife, were cousins, according to Kansas City police.
Perkins and Belcher had a 3-month-old daughter together. She is with other family members at this time.

Perkins was born in 1990 and grew up in Dallas, Texas.
According to her Facebook page, she had been dating Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher since 2010. Her Instagram page showed a happy and proud mother.
Many of her photos showed Belcher with their daughter. Friends have reached out on Perkins' Instagram page, expressing grief over her death and the fact that her daughter will grow up without both of her parents.

Perkins does not have a criminal record, according to online court records in Missouri. There was also no indication that there had been any previous instances of domestic violence between her and Belcher.
