KANSAS CITY, Mo. - CBS is reporting that Chiefs owner Clark Hunt offered general manager Scott Pioli a two-year contract extension earlier this season.

According to the report, Pioli has yet to sign the extension.

Reportedly, the buyout language in the contract is one of the main issues that needs to be worked out.

The timing of this report could not be much worse. The team is off to a 1-4 start. Kansas City is 22-32 since Pioli took over in 2009.

The Chiefs are not commenting on the report.
