The handle @Jovan_Belcher claims to be Belcher’s official Twitter profile handled by his agent. The account's initial tweet was sent around 11 a.m. Saturday. It reads:
I am the agent for Jovan. At this time we are asking for prayers and sympathy. This is a very hard time. Thank you.
A later tweet said that for every retweet, a $1 donation would be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
41 Action News reached out to Belcher’s agency, JL Sports, about the Twitter account and the accuracy of the tweets sent, including alleged statements Belcher made before his death.
Tom Kleine, Vice President of JL Sports, confirmed that the account is not used by anyone at the company.
