GRINNELL, Iowa - A men's college basketball player from Grinnell College in Iowa turned in a performance for the record books Tuesday night.
In 35 minutes of game action, Grinnell sophomore guard Jack Taylor went 52 of 108 from the field, including 27 of 71 from beyond the three-point line for 138 points in the Pioneers' 179-104 victory over Faith Baptist Bible College.
Taylor set all-level NCAA records for points, breaking the Division III record set last year by teammate Griffin Lentsch. He then shattered Clarence Francis' all-division record of 113 points, set for D2 Rio Grande in 1954.
Taylor also set NCAA records for field goals made, field goals attempted, three-pointers and three-pointers attempted.
The Division III Pioneers moved to 3-0 on the season. In those three games, Taylor has scored 19, 28 and 138 points.
Taylor wasn't the only player on the court with a standout performance. Faith Baptist's David Larsen scored 70 points.
