KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Royals have begun what can be regarded as a crucial homestand. The season could be on the line.
This ball club is clearly better than the Twins and Astros. Anything less than four wins in the next six games is unacceptable.
Most of us are losing interest in a hurry with this team. Some want the manager fired. Others want to get rid of the general manager. Nearly every fan believes Mike Moustakas needs to be sent down to the minors.
I get that – but it’s the same old story with this baseball team. A myriad of problems – no solutions.
It's called incompetence at the top. The fish rots from the head down.
David Glass has failed miserably in these 13 years as owner of the Royals. He's had five managers and one winning season.
On the other side of the parking lot, the Chiefs haven't done much better since Clark Hunt took over for his father nine years ago.
Hunt is on his fourth head coach, but appears to have it figured out this time with Andy Reid.
Here's the truth of the matter, folks. Do you realize the Chiefs and Royals combined have gone 48 years without a playoff victory? That's mindboggling – 48 years.
That's pure torture for the fans.
How can this happen? Better question – how can two professional sports franchises stay in business when they're both that inept?
We must be gluttons for punishment.
These teams make millions and millions of dollars every year and continue to get by with putting out lousy teams.
Maybe that's why this old man has become so grouchy.
That’s Jack’s Smack.
