KANSAS CITY, Mo. - It’s “Raiders Week” and people like me have been reminding you that the hated black and silver have kicked our butts every year at Arrowhead since 2006.
I'm still trying to figure out how in the world that’s happened.
Neither team has been any good during this stretch. The Chiefs did back into the playoffs three years ago.
During this losing streak to the Raiders, the Chiefs have trotted out quarterbacks like Damon Huard, Brodie Croyle, Tyler Thighpen, Matt Cassell, Tyler Palko, Kyle Orton, Brady Quinn and now Alex Smith. That's eight different starting quarterbacks.
Man, those really were the dark days around here.
We've learned to hate the Raiders since Ben Davidson and Marv Hubbard.
We don't like to admit it, but the Raiders have won three times as many playoff games as the Chiefs.
If Andy Reid wants to really stoke his troops and educate them about this rivalry, bring Marty Schottenheimer in for a few words. He's a great orator and he owned the dreaded Raiders.
Marty never lost to them at Arrowhead. Never.
Marty went 11-0 at home and 18-3 during his stay in Kansas City.
There is no question; this rivalry has lost it edge. We need to get that back and the only way to do it is to go out and kick some—yep, you know what I'm talking about.
That’s Jack’s Smack.
