MANHATTAN, Kan. - Make it back-to-back Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week awards for Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein.
The Big 12 honored Klein with the award on Monday for the third time this season. He won the honor last Monday after a big performance at West Virginia. Klein collected the award again after an impressive outing against No. 14 Texas Tech.
Klein ran for 83 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 233 yards and two scores in a 55-24 victory to improve K-State’s record to 8-0. The win also helped move K-State to No. 2 in the BCS standings.
The K-State senior improved to 19-4 as a starting quarterback. He’s led the Wildcats to five games of 50-plus points this season, the most since 2000. Klein ranks sixth in the nation with 28 touchdowns (16 rushing, 12 passing) in eight games. He leads the Big 12 and ranks second nationally in pass efficiency (175.47).
Klein and K-State defensive star Arthur Brown also found out on Monday they are semifinalists for major college football awards. Klein was named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award for the Collegiate Player of the Year. Brown is a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award as the Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year.
Brown -- a Wichita, Kan., native -- leads K-State with 60 tackles. The senior linebacker also has two interceptions and one sack.
The No. 2 K-State Wildcats next play No. 24 Oklahoma State on Saturday night in Manhattan. The sold-out game starts at 7 p.m.
