NEW YORK CITY - Staley quarterback Trent Hosick came up short of winning the Wendy’s High School Heisman.

Hosick made his first ever visit to New York City last Thursday night for the ceremonies. The announcement came Friday night. Samuel Prakel, a cross country and track star from Versailles High School in Ohio, won the boys honor. Zoe Alaniz, a star diver from Ray High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, won the girls award.

The Staley Falcons senior was chosen as the Missouri state winner. Hosick was one of 12 national finalists. He’s orally committed to Mizzou.

More than 45,000 applicants were considered for the High School Heisman. It’s based on athletic and academic accomplishments along with community involvement. The winners receive a crystal trophy and $500 Wendy’s gift card. Their high schools receive a $10,000 donation.
