OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - This week's Hy-Vee Athlete of the Week is one of the top players in the Kansas City area.
Clayton Custer of Blue Valley Northwest scored 14 points on Friday night to lead his team to victory.
The Huskies beat Bishop Miege 65-36 to remain unbeaten.
"The thing that's good about our team is that we play together all the time. We play good team defense, we play hard, we share the ball, we space the floor and we make plays for other people," Custer explained.
Several colleges have shown interest in Custer, but he's already set on where he wants to go. He recently committed to play basketball at Iowa State following graduation.
"I'm really excited to be with Coach Hoiberg, Coach Otzelberger and to be a Cyclone," he said.
Blue Valley Northwest is 17-0 with just three games remaining in the regular season. The Huskies still have to face Blue Valley West, Aquinas and Blue Valley Southwest.
