OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - This week's HyVee Athlete of the Week turned in a strong performance in the opening round of the Kansas 5A playoffs.
Saint Thomas Aquinas quarterback Danten Cosentino threw four touchdowns Friday night against Lansing. They won the game 50-20.
Just a year ago, the Saints had a losing record. They are 9-1 this season.
"I'm really proud of how we've played this year. Our defense has been incredible," Cosentino said. "Our offense has been really good,"
The junior quarterback has been responsible for 21 touchdowns this year, both throwing and rushing.
"Danten is very calm and cool. That's what I like about him," head coach Mike Thomas said. "If he throws an interception, you get the same reaction. He knows it's just part of the game and needs to get the job done."
Saint Thomas Aquinas will continue their playoff run this Friday night in the quarterfinals against Blue Valley. The Saints only loss this year has been to the Tigers.
