KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fort Osage running back Ezra Vaoifi earned this week’s Hy-Vee Athlete of the Week Honor.
The senior ran for 238 yards and two touchdowns last Friday night in his team’s 40-9 win over Blue Springs South.
Vaoifi underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL two years ago. He says he did not know if he would ever be the same player after the surgery. But so far this season, he’s already racked up 551 yards after just two weeks, equaling the yards he gained all of last season.
"Hard work pays off definitely for me and the team. But it's just nothing we are going to let get to our head, it's just motivation," Vaoifi said.
"We want him to just be patient and do what God gave him the talent to do and run the ball hard," said Fort Osage coach Ryan Schartz.
Vaoifi and his team take on Liberty North Friday Night.
