KANSAS CITY, Mo. - This week's Hy-Vee Athlete of the Week is one of the most versatile players in the state of Kansas.
Shawnee Mission West wide receiver Andre Maloney scored two touchdowns Friday night to lead his team to victory.
The senior racked up 121 yards receiving, 41 yards rushing and ran back a 55-yard punt return. Shawnee Mission West defeated Olathe South 23-8 to remain undefeated.
"It feels awesome. Last year Kez Denby got it and the team was excited. We had a great week of practice after that and I hope it goes like it did last year," Maloney said.
"He’s a positive kid. He's a hard worker. Just can't ask enough. What he does is everything you need out of a kid,” said Shawnee Mission West head coach Tim Callaghan.
Maloney has committed to play football at The University of Kansas next year.
He has a 3.7 GPA and wants to major in physical therapy.
