KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fans experienced an explosive start to an electrifying night as Kansas City's Sporting Park hosted the MLS All-Star match against AS Roma on Wednesday.
"When she had said do you want to go to the All-Star game, I had to contain myself," Sporting KC fan Marian Dorsey said.
As each seat got one final wipe down, the pride and joy of Sporting KC turned into a packed house on display for the world to see.
"I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am," Dorsey said.
Many fans have been waiting for this night for months, but for Dorsey, being a soccer fan goes back a long time.
She and her son remember cheering on the team when they were the Wizards and say attendance was low as was the energy.
"It was an echo at Arrowhead and it was a little better a Community America but here it just fantastic," she said.
The night was equally as big for Rocco Coletta, who's been an AS Roma fan his whole life but has never gotten to see them play. He and his sons Massimo and Luca flew in from Houston and were blown away by KC's soccer pride.
"I'm surprised. I didn't know it as this big. But I really am impressed the way that American soccer is developing over the years," Coletta said.
