'Sports Illustrated' features Joplin High School football team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Joplin High School football team is getting national attention from Sports Illustrated.

The team is one of 10 programs featured for having overcome obstacles. Their team is highlighted in the second episode of the Sports Illustrated “Underdogs” video series.

The school is qualified to win a $25,000 program grant and a trip to New York City for the Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year Gala. Fans will vote for the winning team later this year.
