GARDNER, Kansas - A local high school had to change its logo after University of Texas officials said it was too similar to the logo of the Texas Longhorns.

Gardner-Edgerton High School was requested by Texas to change its logo on the Trailblazers’ football helmets, team uniforms and gymnasium floor.

Gardner-Edgerton wanted to put a blue ox-horn silhouette on the gymnasium floor.

Officials with Gardner-Edgerton contacted Texas to make sure there were no problems with the university’s burnt orange logo of the Longhorns but Texas officials said the logos were not significantly different and requested Gardner-Edgerton change its logo.

Some parents were not too happy with the request from Texas.

Gardner-Edgerton administrators decided to resolve the issue and create a new logo.
