KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A water main break on the County Club Plaza Tuesday has closed a portion of a major road through the popular district.
Highwoods Properties – the company that owns the Plaza – says the break occurred around 12:30p.m. Tuesday in front of the Decori gift shop on W. 47th Street.
Since the break occurred on Plaza property, Highwoods will have to pick up the repair bill, which includes a buckled roadway that forced the closure between JC Nichols Parkway and Wyandotte Street.
At least one Plaza business said it took on about five inches of water in its basement. The owners of Decori said a collection of Christmas products was ruined from the break.
