INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - A rollover accident caused a big backup during the morning commute into Kansas City Friday morning.
The accident, reported at about 6 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 between Little Blue Parkway and I-470 in Independence, involved two cars, authorities said.
One of the vehicles rolled over. A person had to be extricated, police said.
Only one lane of traffic was squeezing by for more than a half-hour, with the backup building all the way back to MO-7 Highway in Blue Springs.
By about 6:40 a.m., the scene was cleared and the backup was beginning to thin out.
The exact extent of injuries was unclear, but authorities said they didn’t believe anyone had life-threatening injuries.
