KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Southbound lanes of Interstate 435 were closed for about two hours Wednesday morning after a pickup truck slammed into two Jackson County Sheriff’s Department vehicles.

The crash happened before 3 a.m. in the southbound lanes at Gregory Boulevard. The deputies were parked on the side of the highway for a traffic stop.

All southbound lanes of the highway between Gregory and 63rd Street were closed right after the crash. All lanes had been reopened by 5 a.m.

Police on the scene said the driver of the pickup truck was transported to an area hospital with moderate injuries.

The sheriff's deputies and the driver of the vehicle getting a ticket were not injured.

We have a crew on the scene and will bring you more information when it becomes available.
