NORTONVILLE, Kan. - A morning traffic crash killed a 72-year-old Kansas woman.
A Kansas Highway Patrol report states Marcia A. Rygaard of Effingham was at a stop sign at southbound U.S. 59 Highway at Kansas Highway 116 Junction just before 9 a.m.
Rygaard pulled onto the highway and into the path of a tractor trailer, the report states.
She died on impact.
According to a news release from KHP spokesperson Kim Qualls, both directions of US-59 from the K-116 intersection to the Nortonville city limit and both directions of K-116 from US-159 north of Nortonville to K-4 were closed. They were reopened at 2:15 p.m.
The truck driver was not injured.
