HARRISONVILLE, Mo. - UPDATE: Road reopened just after 3 p.m.
A gas line break has prompted the Missouri Department of Transportation to close Route 291 in Harrisonville.
MoDOT says the highway is closed just north of Waters Road, on the north side of town.
MoDOT crews are working with Missouri Gas and Energy, and local fire and police officials to locate the exact location of the break and fix it so the highway can reopen.
Southbound drivers headed into Harrisonville can turn east on E. 237TH Street, then south on S. Lake Rd., then south onto S. Jefferson Parkway, which will take you to Waters Road (head west to get back to Route 291) or into town.
Northbound drivers can turn east on Waters Road, north on S. Jefferson, west on S. Lake Road and then west on E. 237th Street to take you back to 291.
